Architectural restoration programme, which is the first programme of Milas Vocational School, started education 1995-1996 education year under Technical Programmes department. The name of the department was revised as Architecture and Regional planning at 2011-2012 education year. Programme started evening education at 2003-2004 education year.
This vocational programme aims to educate students to get capable of execution of architectural restorastion works, working in public and private organizations in the area of architectural restoration. This programme aims their students to become familiar to: • fundamental concepts in architectural restorastion, • importance of conserving cultural heritage, • traditional and modern materials of restoration, • individual working and group working, • repsonbilities of restorators in local and global perspective, • ethical points, • legal points of restoration, • information technology, • design of restoration projects, • information anout related disciplines such as Archeology, • relationship between restoration and conservation, • systematical and organized working habits.
The Restoration Program, which has a quota of 40 + 2 students for each academic year, provides full-time training in four semesters of the curriculum. Students who successfully complete all the courses required by the curriculum, including 40 workdays vocational training, and who achieve a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00, are entitled to graduation. As of the academic year of 2016-2017, there are 150 students and 5 instructors work in the program. The program has the following physical facilities to support education-training and research activities: Wood Atelier, Archaeological works and tile workshops, Computer laboratories - 2 classrooms
Graduated students work in following organizations: Public or private organizations in architecture and interior design area, Public or private organizations in urban and regional design area.
Graduated student may continue to following undergraduate programmes if get qualified in the necessary exams: Ceramics Old ceramics repairs Tradtional Turkish handcrafts Traditional Tıurkish art Interior design Interior and landscape design Architecture Conservation Urban and regional planning Ornamentation(Tezhip).
